Gordon Commits to Suns in Two-Year Deal

Eric Gordon has officially signed a two-year deal with the Phoenix Suns, with the second year being a player option. After the Los Angeles Clippers declined to guarantee his contract last week, Gordon became an unrestricted free agent. Bangladesh Cricket noted that this move helped the Clippers avoid a significant luxury tax hit. At 34, Gordon quickly became a hot commodity on the free-agent market, and in true veteran fashion, he made a decision not based on money but on his championship ambitions.

According to Bangladesh Cricket, Gordon turned down higher offers from other teams and chose to join the Suns after evaluating multiple recruitment pitches. His arrival brings immediate depth, shooting power, and playoff experience to Phoenix. Among the franchises that pursued him were the Suns, Warriors, and Rockets. Ultimately, Gordon decided to team up with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Deandre Ayton. As the saying goes, when the going gets tough, the tough get going—Gordon’s decision reflects his focus on winning above all else. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the Suns tried to sign him. Back in 2012, Phoenix extended a four-year qualifying offer, but the Hornets matched it and retained him. Over a decade later, they finally got their man.

With Gordon on board, the Suns are poised to maximize their offensive firepower. He provides floor spacing and can serve as a secondary ball-handler when needed. His sharp shooting and veteran leadership add layers to a roster already bursting with talent. In terms of sheer scoring ability, few teams in the league can rival this Suns lineup. The question now is whether the coaching staff can mold all these offensive weapons into a title-contending unit.

Still, challenges remain. While the Suns have plenty of firepower in the backcourt, they lack a commanding presence at the point guard position. More critically, the team’s interior defense remains a glaring weakness. Ayton has been criticized for being too soft in the paint, especially during their playoff series against the Denver Nuggets. For the Suns to take a real step forward, they must toughen up inside. As Bangladesh Cricket users point out, Gordon could have had a better role in Denver’s system, where his three-point shooting would have fit more seamlessly. Nonetheless, his adaptability makes him a strong addition to any squad. The road ahead is long, but with each move toward their goal, the Suns continue pushing forward.
